Thank you for your response to my email and my 500 plus miles done this year was so much easier that the 444 I did last year. Biking in my mid 50s has my waistline at 32 – what it was in high school. I have been back biking for five years and biking 1,300 miles per year did what running 1,000 miles could not. It is more cardio vascular with the bike supporting your weight.
My fiancee gained weight 7 to 8 years ago, and as the premier recognized trainer for RAGBRAI, I want to stress to her the taking pills (ALLY) and all of these new “johnny come latelies” will not do it. She has a bike, but even I am leery of her on the local roads. I told her to go to Ballys and get on a bike and spin. Do you agree? I appreciate it. I did 100 miles Friday in 95% in New Jersey and it was no problem, other than the boredum.
RAGBRAI®, The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, is an annual seven-day bicycle ride across the state.
RAGBRAI will celebrate 40 years of riding in 2012 and is the oldest, largest and longest touring bicycle ride in the world. Des Moines Register Media has been the title sponsor of RAGBRAI since 1973.
