We hope you will enjoy riding RAGBRAI this summer and will share some of those experiences with us this fall.  Now before you hang that bike up for the winter or store the RAGBRAI bus in the barn, we want you to come to Ankeny for the RAGBRAI Reunion! 

So mark your calendars to join us for a discussion of RAGBRAI, followed by a fun ride on the Ankeny to Woodward Trail and cap it off with great food, drinks and entertainment at the Street Party in Uptown Ankeny.  And the best part, the meetings and rides are all FREE!

There will be other activities in town that day for you to enjoy including a farmer’s market and a fun run/walk for those that do not wish to ride the trail.

Each fall we had been inviting RAGBRAI teams to send a representative to attend the Regional RIDE RIGHT meetings that have been held in three different locations around the state to discuss what happened on RAGBRAI. A few years ago, we added some bike rides before the meeting. Although they were well attended, so many people asked us to move these rides and meetings to a weekend.  The RAGBRAI Reunion was created as a way to add some fun to these important meetings.

The purpose of meetings is to improve safety on the road and in the towns and make RAGBRAI more enjoyable.  We cannot improve RAGBRAI without this help and input. These RIDE RIGHT meetings give teams the opportunity to express thoughts and concerns to help improve the safety and enjoyment of RAGBRAI. The feedback generated from these meetings lay the groundwork that can be implemented and work towards making RAGBRAI safer and more enjoyable.  It gives teams the opportunity to discuss issues with RIDE RIGHT Chair, Dan McKay, RAGBRAI Director, T.J. Juskiewicz and Assistant RAGBRAI Director, Wes Hall.

The tentative time schedule will be as follows: 

11:00 AM          Snack Lunch at Ankeny ‘Shell

Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Snacks, Fruit, Drinks, etc.  Goodwill Donations accepted for the Dream Team

12:00 Noon       RIDE RIGHT Meeting at Ankeny ‘Shell

1:00 PM            Slow-paced fun bicycle ride on the Ankeny to Woodward Trail (Across street from Ankeny ‘Shell)

Ride the Ankeny to Woodward Trail (soon to be re-named the High Trestle Trail) at your own pace and distance of choice. 

2:00 PM            CrossTrain Fitness – Town to Trail Trek

3:00 PM            Street Party in Uptown Ankeny

Great food and drinks from the Uptown Ankeny businesses will be featured in the beverage garden.  Live entertainment will be featured as well!  The street party will run from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM.
