If we put all 70-80 mile days last year (or the year before) it likely would have been too difficult a ride for the masses. The last couple of years were very difficult rides (not for everyone, but for most people) so we decided to make it a short, flat ride this year. Now, if headwinds pop up in the flats, the ride can become more difficult. I don’t think you’ll see 550 mile RAGBRAIs as riders are depleted after tough days and we want them to go and enjoy the towns when they get off the bikes.

The little stoker and I hate to miss a party TJ but hey!!!…we rode 40 miles today and enjoyed salted in the shell peanuts and a couple Bud Light Ultras on the patio after the ride. According to the news down here the Gators have recruited the number one class in the nation this year. Will be fun to watch.

Are there organizations or families in the overnight towns that offer camping, shower and bathroom accommodations? How does one make contact?
I will be a first time participant who has assumed the role as leader for our team (ACATransAm 2007) of 11 riders and 3 support persons.

TJ, can you briefly discuss the decision for “The Ride” to shift to several shorter days during the week? You would expect 70 to 80 miles days as the norm, usually you would only see that on Saturday.
