RAGBRAI Expo: Where RAGBRAI Begins

Fri, Jul 16, 2010 | by Wes Hall

2010 RAGBRAI, Blog, Expo

As we all know, RAGBRAI isn’t your typical bike tour and our Expo isn’t your typical bike expo. Over the years, the Expo has become a stand alone event and a destination for RAGBRAIers prior to their pilgrimage across Iowa.

Free and open to the public, the RAGBRAI Expo will showcase our 10 official bike shops, bicycle/component manufactures from around the country and retailers associated with the cycling industry.

Over 60 exhibitors will feature product demonstrations, the latest in cycling gear and apparel, health and nutritional information and much more!

To be honest, there is nothing that you need for RAGBRAI that you can not find at the Expo. If you need a new jersey, or seven, we’ve got it. If you need energy supplements and electrolytes to help get you through the week, we’ve got them too. Did you forget some camping supplies? We’ve got that taken care of this year. Have you ever wanted to take your picture with a 7’ stork? Well, we just might be able to help with that. And did I mention free food? Yes, Tyson will be serving free hot dogs to all Expo goers from 11:30 am – 3:00 pm. From carbon fiber frames to rubber female urination devices, we’ve got it all.

And then some…

The RAGBRAI Expo will also feature the 2010 World Tire Changing Championships. The Iowa Bicycle Coalition will be hosting the World Tire Changing Championships at their Expo Booth from Noon to 5 PM. How fast can you change a tire? July 24th is your chance to prove how fast you really are. The top five fastest participants will battle head-to-head in the championship round at 5 PM. The winner will be crowned the World Tire Changing Champion.

Our 12th Annual RAGBRAI Expo will take place on Saturday, July 24th from 12 noon to 9 p.m. in Sioux City’s historic 4th Street District, adjacent to the Sioux City Convention Center. The Sioux City Convention Center, located at 801 4th Street, will serve as the host for the RAGBRAI kick-off party, headlined by national recording artist, Smash Mouth.

For a complete list of 2010 exhibitors, please visit our Expo Web site.

We look forward to seeing you next week as RAGBRAI XXXVIII kicks off with the 12th annual RAGBRAI Expo, the largest bicycle expo in the Midwest.
