I survived Potter Hill! I think there were a couple mini Potter Hills after that also. Wouldn’t you agree?

  2. Billy says:

The last day certainly had a nice kick to it!

  3. Dan Murphy says:

I did it, I was able to climb Potter.
Only because I was concerned that if I was to get out of my pedals my bike would roll all the way to the bottom so i just kept pumping. What a test!!! But a great reward.

We did it as a family with encouragement from friends. If anyone has a picture of us going up potters, please let me know!!!!!

  5. Thanks a lot. I told everybody I made it to the top and there I am on the video walking my bike up the hill.

  6. Kevin says:

Great ending to a great RAGBRAI. Congratulations to all those who rode with us from Sioux City to Dubuque…including the climb up Potter’s Hill. Glad I stopped for an ice cream bar at the bottom of the hill.

  7. Bill says:

I noticed they were selling funnel cakes in Graf right before the big hill. Glad I didn’t partake. That would’ve definitely made the hill a lot harder.

  8. Billy says:

To “6on1Bike”, You guys ROCK — Great Job!

  9. I actually rode it 3 times. Was definitely fun. Wish I could have blasted the descent, but too many bikes for that :)

  10. Mouse says:

    Pop a wheelie!

  11. caleb says:

I’m seventeen and My gma, 16 year old brother, and 13 year old cousin all survived it. I finished in 7:17 :)

  12. sweeper says:

Thank you ragbrai for adding Potter’s to one of the most enjoyable routes I’ve ever ridden!

  13. BK says:

I rode Potters Hill 3 times…it was a good way to end the week!

  14. Lori Colasanti Frieden says:

I am SOOOOOO glad I kept pedaling!!! What a rush and a huge feeling of accomplishment it was to make it to the top. I was breathing heavy, talking to myself and had a few “choice” words for the hill along the way but man, I stuck it out & that just makes me so psyched. :) YAY!

  15. gordyOldSpokes says:

I’ve ridden 16 years and here’s my take on Potter Hill:
    1) the ride into the valley prior to (the hill) with those good roads was phenomenal; 2) the hospitality of the folks in the valley was great; 3) the hill made Pilot Mound look like a pimple on a camels back. In other words, Potter Hill was a tough little bugger!

  16. MikeC52601 says:

I had heard the stories. Didn’t think a hill could be built like that! Told all my group that I would never walk a bicycle up a hill on RAGBRAI. And didn’t. I carried it. The whole way up, as I lost my chain about .1 mile into Potter Hill Road. Saw that as an omen…

  17. My son (John) and I made it up Potters Hill on a loaded out Burly Tandem. from a distance we saw the huge cluster of bikes being walkerd up the slope. I asked John if he wanted to walk it instead of try to ride it up. He said “I didn’t come on RAGBRAI to walk , Dad”. So we kicked it into gear and yeah, we made it! The feeling was great!

    Can’t wait for next year!

  18. David Potts says:

If anyone has a photo of me and young Jack on a red Santana wearing our Brit kit i would be very pleased to hear from you. We did make it to the top. Still can’t understand why you yanks have hills going up to your rivers. Its the other way round in England!

  19. Kavita says:

Corbett National Park is India’s first and one of her finest National Park. Surrounded with the greens in this park lies “The Corbett Woods”; a luxury camping resort one of its kind in the entire Jim Corbett National Park. The Corbett Woods is located on the banks of river Dhela, Ramnagar-Jhirna Gate Road which is just 4 kms. away from the famous Jhirna

  20. Kavita says:

Welcome to Camp Potters Hill – A camp resort in Shimla where you wake up to the nature. A place that is known in entire Shimla for adventure activities, flora and fauna. If you are a nture lover, come and stay at Camp Potters. Here, you will be in the lap of nature and the mighty Himalayas.Years ago, this botanical jungle was famous for its clay. Potters from Shimla used to frequent this place and that’s why we named it Camp Potters.
