New RAGBRAI Forum is Live!

We are continually trying to improve RAGBRAI.com. Because of all the issues we’ve seen with SPAM and performance we’ve decided to switch our forums software to BBPress.

Here’s what you can expect with the new system:

  • Topics – We were unable to migrate the posts from the old forums. You will need to start all new discussions.
  • User accounts – The user account you had on the old forums will be available on the new forums. Use the same login to post to the forums.
  • Avatars — We were unable to migrate your avatars to the new forums. You’ll need to upload them again.
  • Performance — Page load times should improve from the old system.
  • SPAM — This is a constant battle for every forum on the web. We’ve taken two steps in an attempt to fight back.We are using reCAPTCHA in registration. This is a more effective deterrent for automated registration than the simple math problem the old forums used.We are using Akismet, a very effective SPAM detection service. Of course, we can’t promise this will completely eliminate SPAM, but we hope it will significantly reduce the amount of SPAM in the forums.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes. BBPress is developed by Automattic, the same people who develop the excellent and extremely popular content management system, WordPress. We expect regular updates/improvements to BBPress and hope this will mean no more switching forum software in the foreseeable future.

We hope you enjoy the new forums!

I missed getting the 2010 patch at RAGBRAI, I also want a 2010 Jersey XL. Neither seem to be available on the website. Does anyone have either of these items they would sell me?

Hi,
Kindly spread our theme of Miracle Babies. Our goal to raise awareness in community about such an extraordinary outcome of these extremely sick newborns and dedication of their parents to get best out of their children.
