American Red Cross at RAGBRAI Expo for Missouri River Flood Relief
Fri, Jul 8, 2011 | by TJ Juskiewicz
ShareRAGBRAI has invited the Loess Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross to set up a booth in the RAGBRAI Expo to collect donations to help those affected by the Missouri River flooding. Since many of these communities affected by flooding have graciously hosted RAGBRAI in the past, many riders have asked how they can help or contribute to relief efforts. The RAGBRAI Expo opens at noon on Saturday, July 23 at Glenwood Community High School.
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Why invite the American Red Cross to get donations? The CEO of the Red Cross, Marsha J Evans receives a salary of $651,957 plus expenses. Seems kind of odd to me that RAGBRAI would support this organization. Mick Ashley
