Dyersville’s Lisa Mormann wins the “Guess the Route” Contest

The RAGBRAI route pickers definitely stumped the masses this year, as five towns won this year’s Guess the Route Contest. Several hundred entries were received in the 10th annual Guess the Route Contest to pick the RAGBRAI XL towns, but five of eight towns was the best that the contestants could figure out.  Four people picked six towns who were then entered in a drawing to decide who won first, second and third place.  Here are this year’s winners:

  • Lisa Mormann (Dyersville, Iowa) – 1st Place
  • Rebecca Jauquet (Boise, Idaho) – 2nd Place
  • Gary Bell (Johnstown, Pennsylvania) – 3rd Place

Lisa Mormann of Dyersville, Iowa was the big winner and will receive a gift certificate for $100 that can be used for RAGBRAI Merchandise.  “RAGBRAI has been a goal of mine since 1989 which was the first year it ended in my home town of Bellevue,” stated Mormann. “I spend that day at the Fire Station where the showers were set up and the following day cleaning up the river bank. I could not wait for the next year they were ended here.”

Lisa picked correctly on Cherokee, Webster City, Marshalltown, Cedar Rapids and Clinton.  “I have been riding RAGBRAI since 2003 and it is the highlight of my biking season. I can’t think of a better vacation, where I get to spend a week with over 10,000 amazing people, all while enjoying the superior hospitality that Iowa has to offer,” claims Mormann.

Rebecca Jauquet of Boise, Idaho took second place and wins a certificate worth $80 of merchandise, and Gary Bell of Johnstown, Pennsylvania placed third and will receive a certificate worth $60 of merchandise.

How do this year’s results compare with previous contests?

  • 2003 – Winner guessed 7 towns
  • 2004 – Winner guessed 7 towns
  • 2005 – Winners guessed 5 towns
  • 2006 – Winners guessed 3 towns (wow, we stumped you!)
  • 2007 – Winner guessed 5 towns

  • 2009 – Winner guessed 8 towns (perfect!)
  • 2010 – Winner guessed 6 towns
