In a continued effort to build relationships between local youth and the Iowa City Police Department, Community Outreach Assistant (COA) Henri Harper is organizing a new event – an ICPD RAGBRAI team will join forces with the the NCJC Youth Off Road Riders to send 5 to 6 youth to participate in RAGBRAI XLV.
Volunteer committee needed:
Henri is asking City staff to serve on a committee to help plan for the event, and also asking for cycling enthusiasts to ride along with the group during RAGBRAI. You can ride with the group for a day and be on your way, or ride the whole route with the team. Registration for RAGBRAI 2017 opens on November 15, 2016.
Some volunteering opportunities will be:
- Overnight camp set-up and take-down
- Truck/s and driver/s for hauling equipment and provisions
- Food and drink donations
- Meal preparation
- Bike repair
- Sag wagon (Drivers who are able to provide a lift to those who may need a break between towns, as well as support service to the team)
- Bike riders
Please contact COA Henri Harper @ firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in being part of the planning committee, if you are interested in riding as part of the team, or both. Henri would like to hear from you by Friday, October 31, 2016 so the planning can begin.
