More than 1,100 rain-drenched RAGBRAI riders sought shelter in a steamy Quonset hut in Gilbertville, where the Pocahontas-based caterers Chris Cakes served pancakes to the masses. Chef Tim Cook flipped them high – and some of the riders actually caught them. Others, not so much. – Michael Morain

Aplington-Parkersburg High School may be known for its football program, but its musicians were the stars during RAGBRAI’s visit today. Ten members of the A-P Junk Percussion Ensemble pounded away in a parking lot along the route.
