  • 51 weeks from right now, it will be the evening of Day 3 of RAGBRAI XLI. We will be approximately 200 miles into the ride, and will be in our temporary home in a small to medium sized west central Iowa town. It might have been a hot day, or cold, or perfect. We might have battled headwinds, or enjoyed tailwinds. It might have rained, or not.

Regardless, it will have been a memorable day, and I will be there.

  • I’ll be there!!!! Had a few mechanical issues that kept me off the road 1 day, and part of a second, but I’m so ready!!!! Now that I’ve seen the elephant, I know how to best enjoy my RAGBRAI.

  • I’m in. Hopefully with more miles before the trip and plenty of water to avoid the heat stroke that snuck up on me…

  • I’m in. Missing this past RAG and having to be off my bike for nine consecutive months is a bummer. I hope to be training better for XLI as well.

  • Oh, what the hell.  Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, I’m in — one way or another.

  • I’ll be there! And in my continuing effort to lower the average age of the riders, I’ll be bringing not only my 20 something sons, but at least one of their 20 something girlfriends!! :-P

  • On day 2 post crash, I was convinced I’d never do this again. By day 7, I was planning for next year. I’ll be there.

By the way — since it would be almost 15 years since I last rode the entire ride, does that make me a born-again virgin?

  • In January of this year I was diagnosed with colon cancer stage three. I had already registered for the ride and had to make the decision whether or not I could make it this year. Well I decided that my goal would be to ride. As of July I had zero miles due to the chemo downsides. However with sixteen miles under my belt by the week before the ride I decided to make it work. My good friend said that if I could do it so could he. This was my eight ride and I knew what was ahead. The great people of Iowa along with the passion of the small towns who welcomed us made the struggle worth all the pain. Had it not been for Ragbrai this year I would still be at home feeling sorry for myself. Today is my last chemo and yes I will be back next year. I can’t wait!

  • I’m in. What a blast on my first one. I enjoyed the towns, the people, the whole atmosphere. I met a few folks on the ride and hope to hear from them via email and FB. The same three people that bailed on me this year are already saying they want to do it next year. We will see if they come thru or not but as for me, I’m already making plans.
