My guess is at this late time you will not find a hotel close if you can find one at all.

Main Gampground/expo probably by Mid-America Center/Casino Row, long term parking is near there but they don’t really say on their websit yet, but a newpaper does . “As was the case in 2009, the Mid-America Center will be the staging area for the event, with space for cyclists to camp – or stay in a hotel – and host a number of festivities the Saturday before cyclists leave town on July 21.”
Exit 3, Maybe 2 1/2 – 3 miles to the expo? far enough they don’t list it. busy roads but probably slow moving with all the extra traffic coming in to drop off and then leave between there and the Center S. Expresway and 23rd.
Don’t know route out yet but might cut a couple mils off in the morningif there is an easy way to get to it.

there are lots of rooms left in the area around Mid-America center.

PBV had some negotiated rates with a few of them.

Saturday Night Hotel Rooms in Council Bluffs
We wouldn’t normally send this offer so early, but rooms are selling like hot cakes in Council Bluffs. You will have to act fast to get yours.

Please note: We do NOT know precisely where we will be camping in Council Bluffs, as our host committee is still getting it figured out. We believe that we will be within blocks, hopefully within one mile, of all of these properties listed below. We won’t shuttle people to the hotels, but you can take a backpack and walk or ride to the hotel from our camp, and walk or ride back again in the morning by 6:45 a.m.

We have blocked quite a few rooms, and if these sell out, we still have a few more. Call the following phone numbers, and mention Pork Belly Ventures to reserve your room:

Microtel Inn & Suites- Dbl Queen rooms @$ 95.00 (breakfast included)
Dbl Queen Suites @$105.00 (breakfast included)
712-256-2900

Country Inn & Suites- Dbl Queen rooms @$104.00 (breakfast included)
712-322-8282
Code: bikeia

Hilton Garden Inn- Queens & Kings @$139.00 (does not incl. breakfast)
712-309-9000
If you find that the room blocks are full, please write to tammypav@cox.net. We’ll try to put another block out to you soon. The additional rooms are somewhat more expensive than some of those listed above.
