  • Carbo-Hut was my go-to vendor for a great meal every day on RAGBRAI. These folks put out the right stuff: brown rice, beans, veggies, tofu or chicken, and great smoothies. Never too heavy, and always delicious. Thanks to Tom and the crew at Carbo-Hut for fueling another successful ride. Couldn’t have made it without you as easily.

  • I didn’t have any of their food this year, but had their smoothies a couple of times. Great smoothies!

  • Michrider, I was talking to some guys in my charter Sunday night. They were complaining about cramps. I asked them what they ate, and they had the pork chop, the turkey leg… I suggested they try Carbo-Hut. They reported to me on Monday that they had a great day! Next day, I see them again, and they told me they felt like crap because they wanted to test out my “theory.” On Wednesday, they reported going back to Carbo-Hut and lighter foods on the ride, and they once again felt great. They were convinced. Protein after the ride; complex carbs during the ride. ‘Nuff said.

Right on! Been on this diet for 40 years. Rode strong everyday. No cramps, no over-tired feeling. 528 total miles for the week. Carbo-Hut power!

  • Had Carbo Hut on Saturday before the ride. Didn’t think enough of it to have it later in the week.

    Cycling Roberto,

I had Carbo Hut every day for lunch! Since I’m vegan I researched before I did RAGBRAI and this was one of the vendors that was recommended. Loved them! The brown rice, veggies and occasional tofu really hit the spot for lunch (which was sometimes at 9AM, depending on the day) and their blueberry/banana smoothies were so good I bought all the ingredients to make them at home.

  • As a gluten-free vegetarian, Carbo Hut was a life saver! I had the rice bowl with tofu every chance I could!

  • I prefer to get my carbs in liquid form(preferably with a picture of a clydesdale on the side of the can). No problems with cramps or energy.

Glad you enjoyed your tofu. Feel free to eat my share as I couldn’t even choke that stuff down if I was on Fear Factor.

  • Carbo Hut was definitely one of my stops each day. Good stuff. Sorely missed Pastafari out on course, though.

Gluten-free vegetarian??? You’re not an easy dinner guest, now are you?

  • I didn’t see Garden of Eden on the route, either. Did they go out of business or stop serving on RAGBRAI?

  • Rice, veggies, chicken, and extra hot sauce. Perfect!!! Even with all the cycling, carbo-hut sat in my belly for hours which really helped with the alcohol absorption 8-)
