Howdy. I just got Lazik (whoo-hoo!!) and bought some Forte sunglasses from Performance. They are good but I’ve already got a crack on the top. Can someone recommend some really tough not-too-pricey cycling eyeware? Thanks in advance

Tifosi always makes a good product plus they are guaranteed. Start at 40 and then go up from there.

Performance is 100% satisfaction guarantee. Take them back and get new ones or trade up.

Try safety glasses. Uvex Genesis is one option. Not as sexy as Oakley’s but not too bad looking and less than $10. Others are even less. The ones I like best and am wearing now cost $3.20. Look for a store that specializes in safety gear, not a big box store.

My wife and I loved our Tifosi. Do the research on their great website. We got photochromatic lenses, wearable from sunrise to afternoon and never had a problem entire ride.

I have Tifosi’s too and have never had a problem. I got tham on clearance at my LBS then got the prescription inserts.
One year I had to wear them a couple days after my normal glasses went missing on the route. Looked funny but at least i could see.

I second the safety glasses! I buy three-four sets each spring,
then throw them out. I get the bifocal version so I can read my
computer. I think they look fine also! I don’t worry about
loosing or damaging them any longer.

well, just got back from Performance and they allowed me to swap them FOC, great store. Was going for the Tivosi’s but they were’nt on sale, so got some Scattante and seem pretty good. Came with Smoke and Beige lenses but no clear. BUT, as a few have said above, I DO have a clear pair of lab goggles (Uvex I believe) that do great in early a.m. or night rides, so I think I am good to go. The Scattanti’s seem much more durable than the Forte’s, as these are the full glasses, not the shields.
Forte, Tivosi Scattanti oh madone!!

I was going to put my .02 in for Tifosi, but I see you have already gotten a new pair.
FWIW – I LOVE my Tifosi.

based on these great replies, I am very intrigued with polychromatic, and if I go that route, will try the Tifosi’s

Got to agree with the Rudy’s….I’ve had Tifosi’s for many years but broke down and bought a pair of with photo chromatic lenses at the beginning of summer and have to say they are the best! Well worth the expense!

OK, to put this to bed, after reading reviewers comment on the clear lenses on the Scattantes, which mine did NOT come with, I went back yet again, and upon spending a bit more time, voila, they had a pair of multi-lens Tifosi’s on sale ($54reg, $30 on sale). The salesman also thought they were much better than the Scatts. Wore them home and do like them alot. Not real dark but I actually prefer that, very light but seem quite durable. Thanks again!

hehheh, and yeah, the Music Major in me (UNI class of ’83) did write “Poly chromatic”. derp, photochromatic it is. BTW, The Performance guy also said the T’s p/c are much better than the S’s, but they were OOS. Will keep an eye out,
