I’m whining too! April was our wettest in history. May is starting out the same way with rain predicted for 7 of the next 10 days. WAHHHH, I need to ride!
It’s been a little breezy down here in GA. I think they call them tornadoes. Tons of crap on all the roads making it a little hard to ride.
Windy is right! Rode on Sunday with a wonderful tail wind. The only bad part was the horrible head wind on the way back home.
Ya’ all, It is called the “Davy Effect.” You see, since I am moving to Kansas this summer where it is presumed to be windy all the time and can’t be on the ride this year, I am blessing you with a gentle breeze to make you think of me. Just call it flat land hill training. Oh, and do enjoy!
All this time it was your fault, Davy? And to think, I blamed Michrider for all the wind. Sorry Mich!
I’m riding TOSRV this weekend and I only have 31 miles in!!
For the past two years, I’ve had 400+ in pre-TOSRV!
Oh the pain!!

Weekend weather looks cool and wet, typical for TOSRV!!!
This is the suckiest spring I can remember in eastern Washington. Only 300 miles in for the season. At least it’s starting to get above 50 degrees during the day, if it doesn’t rain.

Dave,
Seems that the lousy weather has afflicted much of the nation this spring. I like to think that summertime owes us one after such a cold, wet start. I’m hoping for many glorious summer days ahead.

Satman, I know you probably won’t see this until afterwards, but it’s called “on the job training”. Otherwise known as “riding yourself into shape”.
I’ve ridden TOSRV six or seven times back in the ’70s and ’80s, and I’m going to have to go back and do it at least once more……..
now where did I put those lottery tickets?![]()

BB ~ Right on! Definitely on the job training. ROB’S TOSRV RIDE REPORT
Portsmouth is a small industrial town on the Ohio river, and the industry
left long ago. The are currently most famous for the dike (concrete walls) around most of their
city, and the beautiful murals painted on them. This past year they dedicated a couple large
murals to the TOSRV, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration. You’ll see them in the
pictures. You’ll also see lot’s of flooded areas ~ the town isn’t threatened, but the Ohio flood
plains are flooded!
We checked into the Portsmouth HS gym with no issues, and measured by the
unclaimed bags, we arrived middle of the pack, which was pretty good for our (late) 8:00
start. A nice evening walk, a couple beer’s and the Kentucky Derby at a local pub
followed by dinner and another beer (medicinal) at a great Irish pub, and we hit the hay by 9:00
pm. What a concert of snorer’s we had for the overnight. Tim & Bruce struggled with that,
but it didn’t bother me a bit. (I think I was a lot more tired then them.)
On Sunday, it was quite chilly in the am with 100% humidity (from the all-night thunderstorms). The fog/mist was dripping off our mirror’s and glasses, but no rain. A
slight headwind all day (yes the breeze, light though it was, turned overnight to stay in our faces!)
By noon it turned sunny and beautiful ~ low 70′s ~ So it was a beautiful
ride. Half way back to Columbus we got off route, into a state park with an incredible 1-mile+ steep climb, then an
incredible, long downhill. That little diversion added about 5-miles to our day (which we didn’t need!).
But it all came out great.
Lot’s of fun, lot’s of laugh’s, lot’s of
riding, and yes . . . I got a few pictures:</font>

Well you’re down the road 100 mi. more than I’ve been able to accomplish here in Iowa. April went down here as one of the most miserable on record. >:-(
