Early bird Ragbrai riders rode into Guthrie Center on Monday morning to beat the heat and prepare for a long, hard day ahead.
Monday is slated to be the longest, hardest and possibly hottest day of Ragbrai 2013.
Dan Hendrick of Plymouth said he started biking early to “beat the heat and crowd.”
“I’m not a big crowd person,” Hendrick said.
Monday’s route from Harlan to Perry is 83 miles and includes 4,239 feet of climb.
The National Weather Service has forecast temperatures to be in the 90s Monday.
