The Charles City RAGBRAI committee announced an entertainment line-up that is sure to please crowds of all ages when the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa visits America’s Hometown on July 28.

Two stages in the entertainment area will provide continuous music from noon to midnight.

“We are excited to bring local and regional talent to Charles City for our RAGBRAI celebration,” said Keanna Smith, Charles City’s Entertainment Chair. “The Entertainment Committee has worked hard to ensure that riders and locals alike will enjoy the band line-up.”

The day kicks off right, musically speaking, by grooving with Charles City’s own “Endless Summer” from noon to 2 p.m. A local favorite, Endless Summer plays music from the 1950s and ‘60s.

The afternoon then heats up with the band “WildCard” from 2-5 p.m. Bring your boots for stomping the yard as WildCard plays high energy, Top 40 and classic country hits.

“The Dweebs” will take the stage from 5-8 p.m. to begin rocking and rolling the night away. This group features songs from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Rick Springfield, Meat Loaf, Blondie, and The Beatles. The Dweebs’ engaging and interactive performance is sure to be a favorite.

“Left of Center” continues the rock vibe from 8-9 p.m. with their unique spin on modern alternative rock.

The headline band of the night, “Standing Hampton,” is RAGBRAI tested, having played during the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009 RAGBRAI rides. This five-member group plays classic rock music from the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s. Standing Hampton combines superior musical and performance skills, with a modern light show, delivering a high energy concert to end the party right in Charles City from 9 p.m. to midnight.

In addition to on-stage performances, riders and local community members can enjoy inflatable games in Central Park on July 28, including the Euro-Bungy Jumper, Human Bowling and a Mechanical Bull. Other family-oriented activities in the planning stages right now include arts and crafts, face painting, bubbles and a magician.
