RAGBRAI riders may be caught in a color war while riding through Dallas Center on Tuesday.
The Dallas Center community is holding color wars to raise money to build a new pool.
“Basically, our old pool is sinking,” said Shellie Pullen, new pool committee member. “The concrete is sinking.”
People can pay $20 for a t-shirt, a bottle of powder paint and entry into a color war. Bottles of paint are also sold separately for $5 each.
Participants then spray one another using the bottles of neon powder paint.
Donations from other events, t-shirt sales and tip jars are also going to fund the new pool, Pullen said.
The cost of building the new pool is about $2.5 million, Pullen said. Tuesday’s goal is to raise $15,000, she said.
“We hope this will just get other stuff started,” Pullen said.
There is no time frame for the completion of the pool, Pullen said.
“We are hoping within two years we will be starting on it,” she said.
