The thing I learned from ’17 was, they (bikes) can’t be geared too low. I seen a lot of people walking up the hills when all they had to do was gear their bikes correctly. I have a Surly Troll this year with 48/36/26 chainring and a 11-36 ten speed cassette. It will crawl up the wall if you can hang on and still cruse at 21 mph in top gear. The gearing also makes it nice to ride into a 30 mph headwind. (I got to do that last night) When in doubt, gear it low and ride it out…
