Randall – There’s a LOT of freedom that comes with being a bagger. Highly recommend! You should definitely practice with fully loaded bags ahead of time. Maybe go on a handful or so bikepacking trips or a multi-day mini bike tour and see how that felt for you. Or just put any weight in those bags during your routine training rides. I definitely suggest to anyone who wants to bag to not ride with that extra weight for the first time at RAGBRAI. Your bike will turn and maneuver different, and it’s dangerous to not have practice with that provided how congested bicycle traffic can get on RAGBRAI at times.
