Jeremy posted the following in post #185401 on this thread: https://ragbrai.com/forums/topic/day-0-sat-ride-to-the-river-2/

I had some time to kill the other day and took a ride down to Oak Grove. There is no boat ramp, just 3 feet of rip-rap dropping down or a natural riverbank to get to the water. But park entrance is free.
B40 (390th st) 1.5 miles to the north of the park is rather rough, B46 (420th st) 1.5 miles to the south (it is paved the whole way – the map is not showing that) is somewhat smoother, but still not very good. I don’t know if the town will have some people camping in the area of the new golf course on the south side of town, if so B46 might be a better route. B40 may improve if they decide to tar the cracks. All of the east – west roads between those two are gravel.

B46 may be the only paved alternative to B40 to get to Oak Grove State Park. Heading west to the park on B40 might be dicey, depending on the Gran Fondo traffic heading east. Coming back from the park on B40 may not be bad, depending on how much Gran Fondo bike traffic is still on it. B46 may be a parking lot or a race track.
