I will be carrying my own gear for several reasons. First, my gear wont be burried under tons of other gear, so it wont get damaged, stolen and or lost, and I wont have to spend time hauling my gear to and from the baggage truck every day.

Plus I will have my gear with me at all times, never know when you’ll need something. And yes, being self-sufficient, is a good thing.
