For my two cents I’ll say look to the left to make sure no one is coming then announce”bike on” when entering the roadway.  I saw several accidents last year (one bad) of riders not paying attention and just pulling out into traffic.  This is especially bad if your pulling into the “fast lane” from the left side of the road.
