While I am not a conti user Knees36, I do use 28mm tires and have toured thousands of miles on them. Me, my bike and my gear weigh in very close to your total touring weight and I have never felt I needed a bigger tire.I have a set of 35mm tires I have used for unpaved trails but those will stay in the garage for RAGBRAI. See yall on the road!
