Even for racers guys shave their legs because of the road rash problem. I don’t shave my legs, but I use an old hair trimmer used for buzz cuts. (It does the same job, it takes less work to shave the legs, I save $ on shaving cream for my legs, it does not take as long, and you don’t risk cutting yourself.) If I wreck, I don’t want to have to clean dirty hair out of my wound. The hair could also potentially have bacteria on it. I’ve also heard that when you wreck you hair actually creates friction and grabs onto the pavement and makes it worse. (Not correct english) So a smoother leg may slide accross the pavement better. Also, I just like the feel when I ride. Its tough to notice, but I like the feel of the air against my legs. I usually use baby oil to keep them smooth throughout the summer. I know it seems counter intutive since our culture says guys should have hairy legs, but I think I look more tonned in the summer.
