When do they announce the date for the announcement party? I can’t remember when we found out the date in previous years. Hoping to have a party of my own like I have for several years prior to Covid.

Thank you for your registering for the private link to this year’s RAGBRAI Route Announcement Party on Friday, January 28th, 2022.
At this time, we are making our online live stream link public to serve the majority of riders and RAGBRAI fans who are unable to make the party or not comfortable attending due to the increase in COVID-19 cases across the state.
For those who have already registered and paid, we will refund you for the amount paid. If you want your registration fee to go to the Iowa Bicycle Coalition please let us know by filling out the form linked below. We will ensure the $10 fee is directed to the IBC following this year’s event.
Yea, not great communication on it but it does appear they have reversed course and will no longer be charging for the Livestream and instead offering it to all at no cost. Ten bucks was not really a big deal, I wonder what drove the decision to change paths? Oh well, see you in July.
It has always been free in the past. Last year some of us were willing to pay in order to help IBC through the Covid crisis. This year I would think that they have gotten a lot of complaints about paying for the livestream. They are now offering prizes for registering and paying however. There will be a lottery for paid registrants and one of the prizes is free RAGBRAI registration for life!! If that entices you be sure to check the details, I am not certain if livestream registrants are included in the lottery or only those who attend in person.

If you click on the Ride tab, the Route Announcement subtab, and scroll down you will see the prize details. They are all exclusive to in-person raffle entries.
Thanks for mentioning this because I have a question.
Part of one of the prizes is “(1) hotel room with VIP luggage transportation by RAGBRAI, and TIDE laundry package for easy cleaning all week long.” Does this mean one hotel room per overnight town and week-long laundry, or one hotel room for the week and week-long laundry? Since I come solo, I wouldn’t want a hotel room each night. It would make it hard to see old friends or meet new ones. But, since I will not be at the party I won’t have to worry about it. Just thinking out loud.
I took it to mean all week but I don’t work for RAGBRAI and I don’t get any insider information so I could be wrong! If they were to offer this prize package to livestream attendees for a $20 donation to IBC I would be all over that!!
Where does one find the link to the virtual party. We have a group in Colorado that would like to watch this Friday.
If it is like prior years, they will put the link up on their FB page Friday night sometime. Just keep an eye on their page and you’ll see it when it pops up.
I got a notice a week or so that they are not charging for the livestream. Since I had already paid I had the option of getting a refund or giving it to the Iowa Bicycle Coalition. I told them to give it to the Iowa Bicycle Coalition even though I am not a big fan of theirs since they were so anxious to jump ship a couple of years ago and support the “New Ride”. I think this is a sign that in my old age I have become more forgiving a mild manner guy………except when someone thinks a paceline is a good idea on Ragbrai. If you need to be in a paceline to get across Iowa, just do family fun rides….Now I feel better.
Mike Murphy, you might see me in a pace line but that is only because I tied a rope to my son and he is pulling my fat arse to the next town. :-)
