If you can fit it, bring it. If you need back support like me, you will appreciate it.

I found a small beach chair at garage sale for $2. One way trip for it. ;)

I bring a cheap, light REI backpacking chair–it’s good to having something to sit on while putting on suntan lotion or just putting on shoes. Plus I stick my water bottles and other stuff I need for the next day on it just outside my tent.

By all means, yes. Get a $15 folding chair at Target, add a clip on umbrella. I like the kind with a drink holder in the arm rest. No chigger bites from sitting on the ground, a shady place to sit, put your shoes on, set stuff on, etc., etc. Well worth it.

Yes it is absolutely worth it to bring a chair but first things first. Are you using the Register’s trucks for your bag or are you riding with a team? I am riding with a team with our own transportation so I will have a chair. If you are using the Register’s baggage service your chair will have to fit in your bag and will count towards your 50 pound limit.

We buy chairs at Walmart after we land and strap them to our gear bag. It’s nice to have somewhere to sit :-) We donate them to the charter service at the end of the trip so we don’t have to take them home.

Buy and donate, that must be why I have a constant supply of 50-60 bag chairs in my garage even though we throw away some every year, some get thrown away more than one. (thanks to those helpful people who see chairs left over by the trash and bring them back to the pile to load on the truck)
