There is a private campground on highway 9 about a mile or so from downtown Lansing called the Red Barn Resort. They’re not yet open for the season, but once they are — the bar and grill portion usually opens sometime in early April — you can contact them at 563-538-4956, email them at info@redbarnresortandcampground.com, or check out their website at http://www.redbarnresortandcampground.com/ -“BB”-
There always is camping in the end town on the Friday before RAGBRAI. This is needed (along with long term parking) to accommodate riders using charters for cross state transport on the Saturday prior to the ride. Camping is usually at schools or city parks.
If you are going with a charter or just using a charter’s shuttle service you should check with them to see where they are going to load up on Saturday morning. You will want to camp in the area where they are loading and they will have space available for you.

Red Barn is taking reservations. I believe they are down to tent spots only at this point but it wouldn’t hurt to contact them.
