Camping near Maquoketa

FYI-We called Lakehurst Riverside Campground near Maquoketa for the overnight stop. The website advertised $25 per night, but when we called this morning, the owner informed us it would be $100 a night for RAGBRAI camping. We declined.

Ha, why, no one price gouges on RAGBRAI! This campground owner will soon find out that most riders are cheap.

Not sure if you’ve done RAGBRAI before but you do not need to get campground reservations or pay to camp. RAGBRAI provides multiple campgrounds for both tent camping and RV camping as long as you are a registered rider. No need to pay extra for it. In May or June, each town will have their website up with maps of all the campgrounds. See you in July!

Look at their point of view- they will be over run for 24 hours and will have to try and get extra staff ect- a hotel cost more- plus they want to make some money
