How many other recumbent trike riders are planning to ride RAGBRAI this summer? I rode it in 2015, my first year. Looking forward to the ride in 2017, looks to be a great route. Looking forward to seeing other trikers on the road in July…

The New Riders of the Purple Maize will be there with two Catrikes and three HP Velotechniks.
Hey Andy good to see you going this year. I had some major heart surgery so I have not decided if I going yet.

If I do show up I’ll probably be on my Vision R-40.

Beebs, I’ll meet you at the first bar on the right!
BTW, RAGBRAI don’t care!!!
Mich, that joint will be too crowded. Look for me at the other place.

I’m torn…might go upright this year on my freshly built-up Soma Saga with a Jones Loop H-bar. But a full suspension tadpole trike is about as sweet, relaxed and comfortable a ride as can be found, and I might go that way. We shall see how the training goes.
Count me in!
I’ve been on 4 previous Ragbrai’s, 2010,2013,2015, and 2016. All on my Terra Tour.
Being a slow fat rider, I tend to finish later in the afternoon exhausted and ready to sleep.
This route will enable us retired party animals the ability to enjoy post route activities.
Also planning on tackling THE BIG BAM RIDE in Missouri; June 11-16th.
As it is steeper and has a higher average daily mileage, this should be a great training ride for the “easier” Ragbrai.
JBoz, Also the trike is a much safer ride for this type of tour. Its hard to crash when on 3 wheels.
Bicycle Bill,
Love the Vision, I have a 50.
But I prefer to take the slow and steady ride of my trike.
I just finished a converting an Old Rans Gliss to and 81 speed so I can pretty much tackle anything with it. I am usually on 3 wheels like Jboz. Richard it right it does make it harder to crash.
On the first day last year when we were starting up the hill from the campgrounds, I had some two wheel rider who thought I was he safety net reach over and try to catch himself on the canopy of my trike as he was falling. Of course he came crashing over on me collapsing my canopy on top of me. I was angry and stopped but got off to see if he was ok and needed help. He was an older fellow, really red faced, and very apologetic. It appeared he was having trouble standing up. I asked him if he was he had heart issues? He said no! I have hill issues! I stood with him until he caught his breath and finally noticed his son who doubled back to find him ( about 30). I made him promise to make sure his dad went to the medics and get checked out.
My point is that even if you are on a Trike you can get hurt. Again Richard is right its hard to crash on three wheels, but its also difficult when on a tour like this with lots of people around you to know who might fall on you or around you.

No trike, not trying to crash the party.
How many Bacchetta’s this year ?
I’ll either be on the Corsa or Giro 20. With fewer route miles this year I’m leaning towards the Giro 20. Ride slower, take more photos, EAT MORE PIE.
Everyone be safe training out there,
RAGBRAI #11,
Jack
Have supported trike drivers for a few years. Rode my ICE Adventure HD in 2015. Unable to ride last year as my support driver had heart surgery. He is healthy this year and will support. My wife and I will be riding this year. Both riding ICE products.
Hopefully, our son from China will be able to join us again. He rode with us in 2015 and rode solo last year because I took over the support roll when my support driver was recuperating from surgery.
Looking forward to another great RAGBRAI!!!!!!
I’m planning on riding my first RAGBRAI on my TerraTrike Rover.
I purchased it used last year and have upgraded the cranks/BB to a Patterson Metropolis, put a nice Topeak rear rack on, replaced the tubes/tires & brake pads, plus gave it a good overhaul.
Just need to get on and ride!! My biggest concern is transport to Orange City and from Lansing…
This will be my third full RAGBRAI, second on my TerraTrike. I am planning to ride about 110 miles each day Sunday thru Friday, with a goal of 700 miles for the week.
you da man!
