How many other recumbent trike riders are planning to ride RAGBRAI this summer? I rode it in 2015, my first year. Looking forward to the ride in 2017, looks to be a great route. Looking forward to seeing other trikers on the road in July…

Regarding our trike gathering in Rockwell on Wednesday, looking at the map and google earth, I’m guessing they will bring us into town on B60 (150th Street), probably turn us north on Pheasant, then right turn (heading east) onto Main Street. It’s a small town and the meeting town for that day, so it will probably be pretty congested. Main street ends at Quincy on the far east side, and there is a park right there. It might make sense to try to gather near or in that park after stopping in town. They may route us right by that park anyway.

So, I’m open to other ideas, but Rockwell on Wednesday. 10:00 am is our target, but I plan to hang out at our meet spot at least an hour or two.

Safe travels everyone, looking forward to seeing you all on the road and hopefull at a large gathering of trikes in Rockwell!

I agree with you Andy. When I first suggested the post office, I was just looking for something that was easy to identify, but it will be congested in that area (appears it will be). So lets try to meet at the park at Quincy and Main. Hope to see y’all there!!

Agreed. Trike meet-up in Rockwell at park at Main and Quincy, aiming for 10am.

Okay, park at Main & Quincy. Plan to get there around 10:00, but I’m hoping folks will hang out and visit for an hour or two. Once we have a good sized group, we need to get some pictures (Maybe Picture at 11:00?)

Also, please pass the word to other trikers you meet along the way.

I will be riding a red 2013 Catrike Road that I upgraded the rear tire from 20″ to 26″, with a stars/strips/Catrike flag, side mounted bag, and music provided by a bluetooth speaker mounted right behind my head.

What kind of trike is everyone else bringing to the trike gathering in Rockwell on Wednesday?

My ride is a green (naturally) Greenspeed GTO, yellow seat, two flag poles on which I fly various things but usually some Canadian ??flags??.

I will be riding my 10 year old red Terra Tour.
Assuming I don’t break it, I will have a red VERSABRELLA to provide me with shade.
Twenty inch wheels all around.
Altec-Lansing Life jacket speaker attached to right side rear of seat.
I have a variety of flag options.
If you are moving at 11 mph, you’ll pass me.

I’ll be on a Silver Catrike Trail with a 26″ wheel on the back. I will also have a Barbie on a recumbent on my rear rack.

I will be thinking about you all as you have fun at Ragbrai this year. I had my first surgery in my local hospital on July 6th to fix the botched surgery that I had to pull out while riding in the middle of Ragbrai last year to have in a Major Hospital in Chicago. Needless to say after 3 infections that became abscess in my Sternotomy Scar in the last year, I assembled a new team of Physicians I have confidence in who are fixing me. My Sternal wires and hardware have been removed. Currently I have wound vac on my chest. The week you start Ragbrai I will have another surgery and a Plastic Surgeon will close my chest and I will be back next year to ride with JBoz and the rest of you wonderful Trike Riders. I really envy you all and I know you will have a lot of fun.

Best of times to you all!

Jason – will be thinking of you, sending healing thoughts! If I survive this, my first, RAGBRAI, I may see you next year!

Linda Wiard-Bauer, July 20, 2017 at 1:32 pm

This is my first RAGBRAI, and riding solo. I will be slowly riding an 18-year old Comfort Cycle 2000 – a 50 pound black delta with fluorescent flagging. My birthday is Thursday, July 27. I hope I can celebrate with some of you!

Hope to see you along the way (I am also pretty slow) and at the meet-up/photo-op on Wednesday. Surely we can figure out a way to celebrate your birthday on the 27th.

Looking forward to meeting everyone on my 2015 Catrike Expedition.

Paul Matzen, July 20, 2017 at 2:28 pm

I will be riding an AZUB Ti-Fly – the 2016 recumbent trike of the year. Have put about 1400 miles on and enjoying it. 20 inch on front and 26 inch on back with full suspension making for a smooth ride. Looking forward to seeing y’all there.
