Do you still have room? And what is the cost. Is there a place to leave my vehicle in the Waterloo/Cedar Rapids area. I am coming from Central NY

Hi, I am a 70 year old male, and have ridden RAGBRAI over 12 times in the past. Lat time being 2004.
I have been cycling other areas of this big country since then.
I will be traveling from central NY and would like to find a team to hook up with or a ride to the start from Eastern Iowa, then maybe find a team there to transport my gear.
I enjoy good conversation and company, beer, whiskey and good cigars. (I am mindful when others don’t enjoy the same.

Thanks
Ken

Ken,
We do have spots available on our buses and in our overnight camping, but do not have extra RAGBRAi wristbands. If you could find a wristband on the secondary market or if you get 7 daily passes, you are very welcome to join us. The cost for full service charter (excluding RAGBRAI wristband) is $250. That includes 2-way air-conditioned tour-style bus from and back to Waterloo, vehicle parking all week, baggage hauling and camping all week. We have a large canopy for relaxing in the evening, charging station, our own kybos and other amenities. Membership in Cedar Valley Cyclists is a requirement of our insurance, but that is only $25 for a full year. I am Roger and please contact me directly at: RAGBRAI@RideCVC.org for more information. As I wrote above, we would love to have you join us and share your NY and extensive cycling experiences.

Thanks for your quick response. I am very interested. Your price is very reasonable, for the amenities you provide

I am already registered and paid for 7 single day passes.

I have no issue with joining Cedar Valley Cyclist for $25.

Before I Jump right in could you tell me a little more about the mix of the group, avg age, early or late risers, what time we have to have our stuff on the bus in the am?
Thanks, Ken

Ken,
We are a local bike club with the addition of several like yourself from across the country, most with some connection to the Cedar Valley either directly or indirectly. We are at about 130 right and nearly at capacity. I don’t know the average age but the range is 12 to 81 with 7 minors and family and several like me in our 70’s. There is a range of ages between. Some are yearly participants and some are first-timers either on RAGBRAI or with us. It is wonderful cross section of ages, backgrounds, and home states. I can recall riders from AK, AL, CA, CO, IL, IN, MI, MO, MN, OH, OK, TX, VA, WA, WI for sure and there are probably more states represented plus a bunch from Iowa. As for riding, we ride individually or in small groups based on riding preferences. They are a friendly group that is easy to get to know. Some arrive in the next overnight town by 10:30 or 11 AM and some as late as 4:30 or 5 PM. Most are on the road by 7 or 7:30 AM, but the deadline for loading the bags on the trucks is 8 AM. We discourage arising before 5 AM because the official ride starts at 6 AM. If this sounds appealing, get back to me and we can start the registration. There are only 3 seats left on the buses out to Council Bluffs. RAGBRAi@RideCVC.org

Roger,
I have decide to ride with Hills Angels out of Lebanon, Ohio. I appreciated your offering me a chance to ride with CVC. Maybe we will get to meet on the road.
I have referred several others to your group.
Ken
