I have heard great things about Bennet’s even while living in Texas. I met people who bought their bikes at Bennett’s at Texas Hell Week last March and ran across them again on Ragbrai. I specifically remember a Pinnarello that was the last red and yellow one of its kind made. Based on their recommendation, I plan to stop in Bennett’s while on Ragbrai this year.

I decided to stop in earlier today while on my lunch break (before reading your post) and I was SUPER pleased with it. I needed a new bottom bracket tool and ended up talking for about 10 minutes and got some really good advice about trying to chase down the click/creak I have in my drivetrain that I’m trying to remedy. Super nice, super helpful, will definitely be going back. Not to make a short story long but I’ve had a very small number of unpleasant shop experiences that’s made me really value the good ones (both shops that I frequented in Ames were stellar). Thanks!

Bennet’s is great. Also Wayne’s Ski & Sports is a sponsor of our local touring club and I believe they have a fine shop. Personally I use Lakeside Cyclery in Clear Lake.

Ive heard nothing but good things about Waynes and the mechanics are top notch. When one of the other shops can’t fix it they take it to Waynes. Note, I have Campy Record 10 components and Waynes is the only shop that works on it.
