Council Bluffs dip site

Does anyone know what changed with the dip site in Council Bluffs? I thought that the dip site was going to be at Harrah’s Casino. Now the CB map shows a site East of the Mid America Center. If there has been flooding, couldn’t we ride to the edge of the water?

I’m thinking I could stop on my drive to Iowa to do the dip at Harrah’s on Friday. Would there be a problem with this? Thanks!

Per the Council Bluffs Facebook page July 5 post:
Due to flooding and uncertainty of river levels, the tire dip location has been moved near the RAGBRAI Expo for a non-traditional dip. Continue to follow us for updates!

Their reply to a post asking for clarification:
Council Bluffs RAGBRAI Yes, unfortunately, due to flooding and uncertain river levels there will not be a traditional tire dip this year.

Harrah’s lower parking lot is flooded, that would be a pretty easy dip site, also Tom hannafins park has standing water, its “closed” but it would be pretty easy to get your bike to the water and dip… I’m sure neither of those are ragbrai approved

I was there last week. The bike route on the way is flooded, to get there you have to travel on heavily congested streets that will probably be worse due to Ragbrai traffic coming into the event.

Do you happen to know if the pedestrian bridge is still accessible?

Heather, yes it is.
