My bike will be outside my tent at nite (that’s the rule at PBV). Do folks cover their bikes with a tarp at nite? Certainly do not want it soaked but if it rains during the ride itself (fingers crossed that it doesn’t) it’s going to get plenty wet anyway.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Unless you have a leather seat, or something that will retain wetter, it really doesn’t matter. Wipe it off with a rag in the morning.
Put a plastic Walmart sack over your seat at night
Are you using a PBV tent or your own tent? If its your own tent your certainly allowed to put your bike in it. A plastic grocery bag over your saddle/seat will work if it rains. Or find a place in PBV camp you can put your bike under.
99 cent painters plastic can do the job. Pair it with a ziplock to keep it from wetting your other stuff.
BBQ Grill covers are great to cover several bikes.
I have used a plastic tablecloth with clothes pins.
I use shower caps as I have a leather Brooks saddle.
Weird rule for PBV. I would put my bike in, but I use my own tent. I think I have done gallon zip lock bags in the past for the seat, that works too. I carry most of my clothes in those so I usually have extras. Might be worth repacking as PBV did leave my bags under the truck one year to keep them dry only to have the bags in a low spot so they were sitting in standing water. They tried right!
I use a shower cap for the seat. Everything inside my bag is in a ziplock. One for each day. Pull clean clothes out hang up, shower put dirty clothes in the bag. Ps each bag has a dryer sheet in it to keep the clean clothes fresh and the dirty clothes odor contained.
Happy RAGBRAI!!!
