Are the daily detailed ride maps out yet?
Do you mean these maps? https://ragbrai.com/routemaps/2018-route-maps/
No I mean the ones for the riders that come out after the pre-ride They look like this
I make a set of maps for all our riders and laminate them so they are easy for them to carry on the bike daily.
Is there a reason you commented Moron? Is this your best I’m a friendly guy voice?
I haven’t seen the route maps with the times yet.
Actually Gary, it isn’t the same thing.
One is a plain map. However, the one being asked about has the map, plus distances between towns and the service times which are important to some people.
Ok just to be nice I’ll explain. The map I am looking for has detail as to how far between each city, the exact roads to take, where meeting towns are. Also it lists if its a special day like what jersey to wear.
It is also very much smaller so you aren’t carrying a huge piece of paper. I ask you to go actually view the two links and then come back and apologize and be a nice person :)
Well you get to a town and grab a beer and look over the map and converse with nice people like “oh man, its like 15 miles to the next town. I can wait that long to eat. Suppose there’s cold water on the way. Ok don’t forget to turn on this road instead of that one and dont get lost because it looks like support in that down ends at such and such a time”
GPS does no good since they assign the route you don;t make it up according to GPS. They are only cheat sheets and people LOVE them. Want me to send you one when they are done?
I have to say though. I think I’ll be done with this conversation since I don’t see a reason to cuss at people over nothing especially when some people are new and very excited about it. Done Ragbrai multiple times so don’t think I a novice and good helping tips
Gary Gary looks like he just created his/her account – so don’t take anything of value from him/her (although his trolling is kind of funny). I’m trying to find how to report his inappropriate behavior – you might want to as well.
Toeknee, last year I picked up a set of laminated maps from the Iowa Hospital booth. It had all the info you’re looking for and they come in 6 3/4 x 3 sheets. One for each day held together by a ring. I’m not sure if they’re available every year but it’s definitely worthwhile looking for the IHA booth just in case.
I agree that the Iowa hospital route maps are great. They are available at the expo on Saturday. Grab one ASAP as they go fast.
Re the latest troll, who has not only made vulgar remarks but also obscene comments on other threads, ignore that person. I’m sure TJ is already on the case.
As Daddy Woo used to say, “If you can’t say something nice about someone, don’t say anything.” So, in that spirit, I say about that individual, “It’ll be a nice day if it doesn’t rain.”
See you along the I-O-Way in July.
These maps should be posted next week. Vehicle maps after the 4th
And please don’t feed the trolls. Just ignore them
I have downloaded the routes that some kind soul compiled for Garmin for the past few years. I’ve not looked at them every day but there were a couple of times in huge headwinds or driving rain that helped me know that a turn was right around the corner and I could tough it out.
