Princess Day! will Remsen be on the route? Is it still known as Beer City, more bars per capita than any other town in Iowa?

Day 1 will be Sunday, July 22, 2012.  Start any time you want, it’s only 54 miles!!!!

Don’t know why but I thought the Princess was from Onawa or that immediate vicinity.

I think it would be about a 40 mile Princess day if she starts from Home. But I think she should ride over to the start, why miss those firsty few fun miles of Sunday? You know, when everyone seems to get on the road at the same time.

Hope to hit Marcus or Cleghorn. Haven’t been to either one yet.

Thanks for giving us the Day 1-7 threads Skunky! And thanks for your insights on previous routes. Some days I can’t remember if I wear two or three strap Shimano sandals.

In addition to offering shuttles from Sioux Falls & Sioux City airports to the Sioux Center Expo, Sioux Center is contemplating a drop off run to Oak Grove State Park for rear tire dipping in The Big Sioux River, which boarders Western Iowa in that part of the state. Riders would then have a leisurely 16 mi. ride back to Expo via County B40. Check their 2012 Host Community link for developments.

No, you won’t go to Remsen. We go on HiWay 10 from Alton to Granville. Then to Marcus. Remsen is 12 miles off the route.

And yes, I live in Alton and Yes, the route is in my neighborhood because Alton is small so everyone lives within 5 blocks of the route! I will start in Sioux Center because I don’t want to miss any of RAGBRAI!!

A leisurely, 55 mi. ride down the road to Cherokee on Day-1 after filling up on bloody marys and mounds of great food along the way… just to relax, center stage at the Johnny Holm Band concert! Life is good!

Man… I am so excited for this. :) I really can’t recall a ride that I’ve been this excited about this far out. Seeing a real life princess, sitting on a kerb, seeing how much pie I can shove down my pie hole.

Let the games begin…

New road hazard day 1.
About 200 buffalo broke out of their pen at the Frick and Joe Buffalo Ranch in Sibley on Sunday. The animals have since been spotted in five counties – Lyon, Osceola, Sioux and O’Brien counties in Iowa and Nobles County in Minnesota

Lt. Seth Hofman of the Osceola County sheriff’s office says the buffalo are “really, really fast.”

Officials have corralled most of the herd, but more than 30 are still on the loose
