Mrs Woo, my support driver, loves this route. Since it doesn’t go through Pella, she’ll be able to drive into town and spend the day touring and shopping (yikes!). Pella and Orange City (2017) were full of great Dutch treats and the people were hospitable and friendly. Both of us enjoyed Pella in 2013 and Orange City last year. We can’t wait to return.

See you along the I-O-Way in July.

Pella is one of my all time favorite pass through towns. Perhaps next year it will be an overnight??

I was a first time ragbrai rider and I wanted to experience all of what Ragbrai had to offer. I did the century loop, but when I got to the town that handed them out, I was told that they stopped at 4 pm and I was there at 4:15 pm. I was so heart broken. I want to know what town are they handing out the patches for the century loop and what time are they stopping handing them our? I thought this was suppose to be an enjoyable ride and not a race, but if you want a patch it is a race against time.

I am not sure what you mean by handing them out? Do you need to do something to do the century loop?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott, I think Leslee means the patch that’s handed out mid loop!

Leslie – be sure to check the daily maps as it tells you what time the Loop patches are handed out until.. last year was 4pm as there was still 40 miles to go from the Loop Town to the overnight town and the route closes at 6pm.. thanks,

Scott- “The Patch” they r referring to is the Century Loop Patch and it is only handed out on the day they offer the Century Loop. The loop is optional for those not wishing to ride 100 miles but it is mandatory to ride the loop to receive your century (recognition) patch, of course, proving you completed the loop. The patch is handed out by none other than Ragbrai co-founder, Mr. Alex Karras at a small town loop pass-through town. He will congratulate you on your effort and offer a photo op. Hava grrreat Ragbrai!
