I only went Mingo to Baxter, the damaged section is the other way. Have only been Slater to bridge on HTT so I didn’t know there was damage there. They will have to have it repaired for the ceremonies on April 30th.
24 miles this morning, rocks, sand, crumbling blacktop. Took me 3 hours and that includes stopping to take a picture of another rattler on the way home. This one seemed a little smaller than the one Saturday and not quite as aggressive. I got within 25 feet of this one. I think they are stalking me.

Got 42.5 in today with little wind.
Riding is cutting in on my afternoon nap though!!
I rode day before yesterday – got in 18 miles – lots of hills and I took the route with the most headwind. It was my third time out, and I was already stronger and able to handle the time on the bike. I was out about an hour. The good news is that I am not sore anywhere yet, and the new bike shorts with the new saddle seem to be a great thing.
Finally – shoes and clips………I should have done that many moons ago.
Total milage after three trips – 45 miles. When school is out in another week I will be on the bike every day – and hopefully for much longer periods.

RIDE RIGHT
I rode From home to the el bait shop ride for 56.81 miles about 5hours 18 minutes at 81 degrees and back home
Yesterday was 28 miles topped off by the last 8 in a thunder storm with heavy rain and lightning. And I was riding a stell bike, great timing!!!!
Yesterday morning, April 9, I woke up with 2″ fresh snow on the ground…. headed to the gym and got in over 20 miles during a spin class (good exercise but not what I call real miles). It bared off and this morning the temp is in the 30’s with a 20mph wind. It’s supposed to get up to the low 50’s this afternoon with the wind subsiding to 16mph. I think I’ll wait ’til then. The weather in my area has not cooperated this year as I’m 500 miles behind last year at this time.
28 days ’til Granfondo NY, 34 to the Rupert Century, 69 to the Double Divide, 76 to RATPOD, 90 to STP, 104 to RAGBRAI…..
I’ve been in a mood, don’t know what kind, but none the less I rode yesterday 15 miles, some wind, not to bad. THEN In my mood, yesterday I ate 3, not one or two BUT 3 banana splits!!! This morning went to a store meeting and then came home and rode another 15 miles, NO banana splits for me today. I know I should be eating pie, but just down the rode is a flavor freeze! Gotta stop going there.
It is hard to train by myself some days but, I will be fine, it is going to get to the 80’s today so, I’ll mow the lawn and ride again! I’ve got 82 miles on my bike, and yes I know I gotta ride more. Word of advice”stay away for the banana splits” :)
went out sunday before the wind picked up, did 40 miles. appaerntly not early enough though. 20-30 mph winds with gusts 40. took about 1 1/2 hrs to do nearly 15 miles into it. about 1/2 that time heading back. Nearby in Boone they had a gust over 50 mph about a 1/2 hour after I got home.
25 miles, 2, 000 feet climb, 3 hours and 40 minutes yesterday. Rocks and sand.
13 miles, 1,100 feet climb, 2 hours today. Rocks, sand, and 2 1/2 miles of smooth blacktop hills.
Tomorrow, I plan to do the 25 mile route again. I want to see how this old body reacts to consecutive days of riding.
