RAGBRAI LI Day Passes are still available!

Did you ride today?

I just checked the Iowa weather and I’m glad I live in Kentucky!  It was 70 degrees here this morning when I rode, with winds from the South at 16-22 MPH, gusting to 30.  It was fun riding that wind at my back!

Not to rub it in, but I got in another 21 miles this afternoon.  Another beautiful day of 68 and no wind.  If this keeps up, I’ll have my first k in before I normally even think about getting on a bike.

Got in about 25 miles this morning – low 30’s and slightly overcast the whole time, but no wind.  I haven’t missed a weekend so far this year.

It was 27F on my way into work today… I maintain a MWF schedule with some variation for snow, sleet, sloppy streets (of which there has been much). Coldest commute this season: 04F; coldest recreation/training ride: 18F, but I wimped out after 16 miles.

wow you guys are tough! I got some in on Sunday when in was in the 50’s here in the sunny south….looks like snow on Wed (in Louisiana?). So I wont be out till next weekend.

coldest so far -9, wnw wind. if wind chill was -25-35, what is it on a bike? even after getting inside it took 3-4 minutes for the frost to melt

Rode 30 this morning with the RealCyclist.com team “recreational” ride.  Only 34 degrees so below the line for me, but sometimes you have to make exceptions.  Got my ass kicked as expected and I’m weezing now, but still a great day.

Finally got a break in the weather and got in ~25 miles this morning.  Temperatures in the 40’s and 50’s.  A bit windy but this time of year you can’t be too picky.

I did!!  It was only 38 degrees. The road directly in front of my house was snow packed but a half block away it opened up to a one tire ‘open’ road, and three blocks away the main road was ‘open’– wet but snow and ice free!  So, I happily road out and back for only about 45 minutes—-didn’t want to shock the old knees by overdoing it first time out for the new year……

Thirty eight miles and it took all day.  A very good day.  We are polishing off a bottle of Gladiator 2008 with biking buddies right now.

I like the label.  Seems like it was banned in some state because of the label.RIDE RIGHT
Yep, Cycles Gladiator was banned in Alabama because of the lady of the label.  (I looked it up)

It’s fairly warm out here in the Bay Area so I have no excuse for not getting out on the road.  Yesterday I rode from Benicia, Ca. to Yountville (wine country for the most part) and then rode a bit further around the vineyards and clocked a little over 40 miles.  I ate dinner with a group of people last night who were born and raised in Iowa and they were thrilled (and jealous) I was riding Ragbrai.
