Saw this from Farm Boys Hearty Food Company

Loyal customers and market friends. Our family farm, also home to Farm Boys Hearty Food Company, experienced an EF-1 tornado on Sunday evening. Our pickup and trailer used for the market was completely totalled. Luckily the contents of the trailer had minimal damage. Our other two supply trailers, which were just used on RAGBRAI and serve as storage for most of our equipment were completely destroyed. We have found small remnants, but the only real evidence were the trailer chassis found about and 1/8 and 1/4 miles away.

We are planning to be at market on Saturday. We have lined up a pickup to use and are in the process of finding a replacement trailer yet his week.

Advice I learned many years ago was to not cry over anything that cannot cry for you. All of our equipment can and will be replaced. We are so blessed no one was injured. It is a miracle that our home is still standing. The tornado demolished sheds on the east, south, and west of the home. Four silos were taken down completely and all of our farm equipment with the exception of about five pieces were all destroyed.

Please pass word that we will be at market on Saturday. Thank you for all of your messages and concerns.

Not to make light of a tragedy, but machinery, equipment, and buildings can be replaced.  That’s why you carry insurance.  So as long as no one was injured or killed they will more than likely come back from this strong as ever.
