For all of you riders out there looking for a healthy bite to eat throughout the week, we will be back! We want your opinion though, what was your favorite dish last year and what do you think we could add to our menu? We already have some ideas for a couple additions but want to know what you all would like to see again or more of!

Some of us will be riding for the 1st time this year. Can you tell us what was on CarboHut’s menu last year?
We offer various rice and noodle bowls, the main entrée changes daily. Our menu caters to vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers alike. We also offer fresh fruit Smoothies every day with the option of adding protein. We have coolers full of ice water and Gatorade every day as well. Some of the different dishes we offered last year were chili garlic chicken/veggies, shrimp/veggie tuscana, sweet&sour chicken/veggies, teriyaki chicken/veggies all over either brown rice or noodles (with the option of adding tofu to any dish).
Like I said earlier we will be modifying the menu a bit this year but keeping the same concept. Suggestions are welcome!

Any gluten free?
I see there is getting to be more chatter each day so thought I better let you know that “The SMOOTHIE GUYS” will be back on the route again in 2012. We will be making our fresh frozen fruit smoothies each day. We are known for our Strawberry, Peach and Swirl (Strawberry Peach Combo) Smooties. We will be offering a buy 4 get one free punch card to the first 500 riders on Sunday Day 1 of the Route, so make sure you stop in and get your ticket. Munchkins Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches will be joining us again this year. When you stop at our site during Ragbrai, you will not have to wait in long lines. We keep the line moving so you can get to sit down and relax rather than stand in line like other vendors. We are looking forward to seeing all you hot sweaty riders and hearing how you are doing. We will also be having a drawing each day to give away a few smoothies so plan to stop and check out our winners board to see if you will be drinking on us. Check us out on Facebook and let us know you LIKE us. Watch for our signs each day starting 7 miles away.
There are gluten free options everyday at CarboHut.

Hey Carbo Hut! 8)
Your menu sounds great. If you use this marinade recipe for your grilled chicken I’ll eat it practically every day over rice or on a nice big green salad:
1/3 C olive oil
1/6 C lemon juice
1/8 C red wine vinegar
4-6 cloves of pressed garlic
1 TBS dry oregano
1TSP salt
1 TSP peper
Place (pulled) chicken breasts in marinade 2 hours in advance; grill on Bar-B-Q.
Av8tor, that sounds like a fantastic recipe! I will see if there is a way tho incorporate that into our menu plan. For all of those interested, check us out on facebook: facebook/carbohut. We will be keeping everyone informed about where we will be along the route and what our menu will look like this year. If you have any suggestions or photos feel free to post them on our wall! Stay tuned we will also be doing a promotional give away opportunity through facebook in the near future!

The 2003 RAGBRAI Food Survey is on the Sioux Center site. My beef and noodles are number 10???? What are those people thinking??

RIDE RIGHT and give me beef and noodles for dinner.
Beer would be a fantastic addition to our menu, we have not had the opportunity to get our liquor license yet… Maybe a couple years down the road! Beef and noodles sound delicious as well! I’ll put a plug into the Chief :)

I enjoyed your offerings last year and one of my friends enjoyed the fact you had protein to add to your smoothies (but you didn’t have the flavor she wanted at another place). I particularly enjoyed the shrimp options and the fact you had lots of veggies. The big downside last year was the lines. Perhaps look to other vendors to move people through in a more efficient method w/o losing quality.
It is great to see that everyone is getting excited for Ragbrai. We too are busy making plans. There are some good suggestions here that we will definately consider. We are planning on making some changes to the menu, as CarboHut has mentioned.
Beef and noodles are a possibility as it keeps with the theme. I will have to experiment with recipes and put it to the taste testers.
Minnesota, what flavor of smoothie was your friend looking for? Maybe we can make it one day. And the lines???? that can be a problem during the lunch rush. I will have an assistant this year, so hopefully I won’t fall behind. And we will discuss line management. Good suggestion!
