Yes, Sunday is the first day. On my first Ragbrai I thought there would be a mass start, but there wasn’t. The official “roads open” time is 6 am to 6 pm, but many riders will start earlier. There is usually a long line of flashing red taillights to follow. Welcome to your first Ragbrai.

I think this year may be the year with a good dip sites at the start and end. In years past, the start has been a bit of a hit or miss. The start will be where you can dip the back wheel into the Missouri river. With this being your first year. Do the dip and take a picture of your son.

This will be my third RAGBRAI and I haven’t been able to dip the back wheel due to the locations and time of arrival in previous years. Hope it changes this year.

Welcome to your first Ragbrai. There may not be one official starting point, as one park may not have room for all to camp. The last time I started from Sioux City I camped in Larson Park. At the west end of Larson Park Road is a boat ramp that is perfect for dipping back wheels. That is also the area where Larson Park Road bends to the north and becomes Hamilton Blvd. That is about as official starting point as I can think of. We took Hamilton and Outer Drive to get out of town. You might get onto Hamilton from a different park. Have fun!

do you think Riverside Park (a little North of Larsen park) will be part of the camp site too?
Just booked a hotel in N Sioux city SD that is 4 miles away.

Overnight towns will be posting routes through their towns for autos and bikes. I expect to see them by early Summer. Town maps show where the Expo is and where the main campground is. If you are using the Ragbrai Semi’s to transport your gear it could be awkward to get you gear to the trucks if you are not using the main campground. Your hotel may have shuttle service. I would check.

Back in 2015, Sioux City had this RAGBRAI map:
