Tomorrow night at the Flat Tire we not only will be having steak night but we’ll also be having a drawing to give away 2 tickets to the Urban Assault and Stomp Ride. The drawing will be at 10:00PM and it’s free to enter. We will have $2 cans of Fat Tire the entire night.
Brandon Parizek will be there from New Belgium and he is planning on riding to the bridge after the drawing and camping at Swede Point if anyone else is interested.

Can’t make it tomorrow, but we’ll definitely be stopping in Saturday during the RAGBRAI Reunion ride. Any specials then?
$4 Hair of the Dawg bloodies until 1PM!
Maybe see you and Zinger there, as of now plan on leaving Ames at 10:00, should pt us there about same time, assuming I get out of Slater. AndWestTowne in Ames isn’t open yet.At least the Kelley corner bar dosen’t open until 3:00.
I’m missing out this weekend on all the good rides. I’ll be in St. Louis watching the cards crap their season down their legs.
I’ll pass on the bloody marys. Vodka lemonades for me!!
The bar in Slater is the Take Down.
Zinger, stopping at Take Down before Flat Tire? 11:00 ish there then?
Sounds like a plan. First the Take Down in Slater, then on to the Flat Tire. 11ish it is!!
Should we look for the bus??
RIDE RIGHT
ST, should we be looking for you there too?
I’ll be there, too. Just look for the camoflage panniers. Hopefully, one of the bars on the route will have the Travers Stakes on TV.
Flat Tire Lounge was running the horse race on one TV, and football on the other. Which, FWIW, I think is just wrong to have pro football start so early anymore…
And that game you were seeing was a pre-season game, which means that it had little or no importance to the overall standings. It’s merely a way to extract maximum money from those fans who are willing to pay to watch what amounts to nothing more than the second or third-string players practicing.
And don’t tell me that it’s giving these guys a final chance to show that they can make the team. That would be the same thing as saying that if Lance would have had a bad showing in the Dauphiné Libéré he would have been left off of the team selected for the Tour de France. By the time you get to game three or four of the pre-season, coaches and staff pretty much know what the final roster is going to be.

Not sure about second and third string practicing, BB, but definitely agree that – like so many things these days – it’s about the money. I suppose if RAGBRAI could pull off two rides across the state easily, and profit as greatly as filling a football stadium, they’d do it.
