I was a little weiry on riding my Elliptigo stand up running bike this year at Ragbrai. Thought I might stand out to be a outcast with the bicycle crowd.
MAN was I wrong, about 99% of the riders during days 1-3 had nothing but kind words , questions on why, where did I get it, if I made it, does it have gears, so how are the hills treating you with that 10 ‘ banner fly’n from the back of your bike?
Almost melted away during day 1, cramps at 20 miles, but all the riders said great job Elliptigo guy-I had to keep going. I finished day one , and the hills and heat. (EEEEKS)
Day 2, whole different day, whole different plan of attack. Force feed myself till the verge of blowing up with gatorade and H2O the whole ride. No issues what so-ever. A super great day for around 70 miles of riding. (Extra miles to get luggage, food,Pepsi , and the much treasured shower)
Highlight of day 2, the young boy who went around our camping site, selling the coldest water, and RootBeer floats to all the riders setting up their tents. THANK-YOU ROOTBEER GUY-you deserve to be #1 support crew for that day.
More on day 3 later, i’m hitting the showers.
I hope I convinced some folks out there, that the Elliptigo is a option that my work for some people, (who no longer can run the normal way of foot on ground)
either from worn joints, or in my case ( a Torn apart Achilles Tendon).
Just wanted to say-I have really enjoyed our little conversations as we ride ( run) or Skate board like one guy was doing across Iowa.

Yeah, I thought you were crazy dragging that flag around, but then I saw a guy on a skateboard. Now, that is crazy.
What kind of flag?
It was a flag advertising Elliptigo. I asked if they paid him to carry it. He said he just got free accessories.
ok, another guy did the ride self contained on one of those, but had an American flag flying.
I recall meeting you at the first Casey’s. I asked you about it, and you looked majestic as you ‘rode off’ into the distance.
I saw a couple of them this year…and I plan to be on one for next year’s Rabgrai.
