Yes – Hash House Harriers…is tons of fun……you can find out about hashing by searching online – I bet most of your towns have a kennel. And yes..the drinking club with a running problem…but you can do it on bikes too.
And yes…I would be up for riding one day with a group of hashers.
No reefering involved. At least for me…you all can do what you like. I will stick to beer.
I sit corrected, but maintain that hash/bash harriers is completely different and an off-shoot of the original “hash/bash” and the OP did said hash/bash in his/her post.
I beg to differ. The origin of what became the Hash House Harriers predates WWII, long before the potheads began holding their rallies and “smoke-ins”. I have never heard of a smoke-in or a “hash/bash”, as you refer to it, involving any actual physical activity more strenuous than packing a bong or passing a roach.
While it is correct that OP mentioned “hash” and “bash” in the same sentence, he/she also mentioned “laying trail”…which is a requisite of a Hash run, since the group of runners follow a pre-set (and often sketchily marked) trail. What connection would that phrase (“laying a trail”) have to do with smoking marijuana?

-“BB”-
Bash is a bike hash…at least that is what we call them out west. Not sure where that term came from but it seems to work as most hashers don’t really seem to be too literal.
Hope I can at least meet some fellow hashers on RAGBRAI this year. And if anyone ever makes it out Portland way I can introduce them to our hashes here. We usually have at least 3 to choose from each week.
They could be smokers, they could be paceliners, they could be….. Let’s cut to the chase already; they’re good old boys looking to stand in line at Waffle Stop.
