I started RAGBRAI’ing in 2017 so I have 2 under my belt. I finally started a project this week where I took two printed state maps and on one I shaded each county that I have ridden RAGBRAI in. The other I traced the route for each RAGBRAI. I can’t wait to see what these look like in 20 years. This made me curious, anyone else do something like this? How many counties have you visited on RAGBRAI(inclusive of Gravel and Century Loops, if you rode them) How many counties do you have left that you haven’t visited? Which Ones? How many RAGBRAI’s have you done?

when we ended in Lansing that was finally all 99 counties, Took 35 years to do it. Now about those 6 or 7 haven’t slept in yet, Maybe we can knock 1 or 2 off this year?
If you saw the new Team Skunk jersey last year, that had all 40 routes on it that the team has done with the overnight towns represented by red dots
I counted my counties today. 99 in 20 years. ?
Don’t know, I would have to sit down and do the “math”. I started this madness by doing the last three days of the 2012 ride and have done every one since. However, in many years I am spending part of the week driving the team motorhome and that complicates the “math” considerably since I have no record of when I drove versus rode. And I have probably driven a fair number that I have yet to ride….
Amateur radio operators can also be county counters although when they do the objective is to “worK” (ie, talk to someone in) every county in the USA. I wonder if any cyclists have done that or are working towards that as a goal?
Like Skunky, a lot of us were able to cross off 99 with the ending in Lansing. As I recall there was a lot of prodding on this forum, myself included, the year before to get TJ to pick a Lansing finish for that very reason.
I too have a DOT map hanging on the wall of my man cave with all the routes and overnights marked.
After 29 years it’s getting a little crowded.
Jake, I’d love to see a photo of that!
11 years so I will say I’ve been in a majority. My point is I’m not from Iowa so I don’t have a point of reference for most of the towns we go through. I’ll recognize names and remember events, but the rest of it just a blur to me. Most of the time, I have a hard time telling you what town we stayed in the night before. I am all about have goals. If yours is to hit all the counties, good luck. I can tell you I’ve been in 49 states…
Cory, I am not exactly the most tech savvy person, but if someone will repost how to put a picture on this board I’ll see what I can do.
25 years
That is amazing! I love it!
Excellent R-DD! A great memento.
RIDE RIGHT
If you count traveling down T61 as Monroe County, the 15 RAGBRAI routes XXXI through XLV would hit all counties. In addition to Allamakee county on XLV, Louisa county on XLIV was a rarely visited county.
Looking forward to seeing Jake’s map of his 29 years . . . .
I started one using different colors. Then ran out of colors. One map has 41 now for the team and mine has 36
This is a great idea to keep me busy in the next few winter months.
