How much cash would I bring for food?

Trying to determine how much cash I need to carry?
What is the typical cost of breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Do you have to pay for showers.
 Do vendors take credit cards?
Do you have to pay for water?

Towns will have free water, ya just gotta find it!  Vendors (except for maybe bike shops) along the route won’t be taking credit cards.   I’ll probably be carrying 60-100 with me but then I expect to be drinking a few beers along the route!

Hi,

Bring as much or as little as you want to spend.

Think about 5 or 6 bucks for a meal. To figure more exact amounts for your appetite, buy a meal or two at a grocery store or convenience store after  a ride.

Cash works best for vendors. Think long lines with people waiting (have your order in your mind and your money in your hand).

Free water can be found. Carry more than one bottle so you aren’t always on the edge of running out. Bottled water costs money but can be easier to find and is sometimes colder.

The only thing I use a card for at Ragbrai is to hit a cash machine.

See you at week’s end!

I’ve discovered that ATM’s in bars run out of money.  ATM’s in banks seldom run out.  LOL Go figure!!!!!
