We are gearing up for everyone to arrive in Davenport on July 22 & 23! I want to pass along some information for anyone who may have missed it…
How to Best Enter the Ambrose Parking lots (Red, White, or Blue)
With buses, volunteers, support vehicles, and long-term parkers arriving at St. Ambrose around the same time, we’d ask that those wishing to park in the red, white, or blue lot please take Interstate-80 to US-61S, to Lombard Street and follow Lombard to Brown Street. Take a left onto Brown (this will enable you to enter the back-side of the parking lots and stay out of the way of the charter buses lining up on Gaines Street). If you are coming from Interstate-74 or south of St. Ambrose, you can take a right onto Brown Street from Locust Street.
If you are a charter bus company, please plan to take US-61S to Lombard Street and take a left onto Gaines Street to line up and load riders. You will then be exiting from Gaines onto Locust Street and turning left onto US-61N/Brady Street to reach Interstate-80.
Camping
Camping will be available at Credit Island (800 Credit Island Ln south of Highway-61) on the evening of July 22 and again on the evening of July 30. There will be entertainment, food, restrooms, etc at the campgrounds. To reserve your spot, please email Betsy Tubbs at btubbs@ci.davenport.ia.us.
Shuttles
There will be a shuttle bus running on both Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 to help you around town. On Friday, the bus will run between Credit Island, downtown Davenport for entertainment, & St. Ambrose University from 4:00-8:00, but may be extended. On Saturday, it will run from 5:00-9:00 AM between Credit Island, the Harrison Street Parking Ramp (Gold Lot), and St. Ambrose University.
Box Lunches
If you do not need to reserve a long term parking place and just need to order box lunches for the long trip across Iowa, we can certainly do that for you. Please give me a call and I will take your order over the phone. I’d like to place our order this week so that Hungry Hobo has plenty of time to order the food. Call me at 1-800-747-7800 ext. 115.
Thanks for all of your patience and excitement as this is a brand new experience for many of us in Davenport. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in a few weeks!

what about the gold spots?, any suggestions for parking in those?
Joan, will there be shuttles from the charter staging area at St. Ambrose to the QC airport?
tarmac52: From I-80, take US-61S and follow it past 3rd Street (stay in the righthand lane) and you’ll enter the parking ramp at Harrison and Second Street. There will be a shuttle bus picking up from that parking ramp on Saturday morning.
Joan, we are traveling with PBV and have long term parking reserved at St. A. Our bus leaves from St. A. on Sat. morning. However, we have been informed that we cannot camp at St. A. I’m just wondering why we have to camp on the island!!!
davenportJoan… you rock!, thank you so much!! I ‘think’ we will be getting there after 9:00am. I know that after 9:00am, we lose the volunteer service, but I think we’ll manage. We are renting a car and driving to Glenwood.
Thanks so much!! I emailed the davenport long term parking before we signed up and you all were most helpful!! Great job, and thank you!!!!!
tarmac52: Actually, I heard from the volunteers at Ambrose yesterday and they’re willing to stay until 11:00 or later on July 23rd so you still should have assistance!
wow!!, that is awesome, thank you!! I think we will be there approx at 9:00am or a little after. We are coming from Chicago. Have to pick up a car in Moline, head over to Davenport, and then be on our way!!
Michrider… c’mon, PBV won’t let you crash in the bus?!! :)
OK, that makes sense, Thanks!!!!
