RAGBRAI XLIX registration is now open!

July 25 overnight(spoiler alert)

If you don’t want to know then stop reading now…..

I have no inside information but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. I also put 2 and 2 together on twitter and can say with 99.999% certainly the July 25 overnight town is…………
Congratulations Monticello IA! It’s a Highway 20 Ride!

Crap. I think I got my days mixed up. I swear I could feel it in my TOES that July 25 would be in Monticello. Well anyway, there’s gonna be a big party in Monticello on the 25th!

If this is true the poor residents of Monticello have their work cut out for them as the Ego Ride overnights there on July 12. They’ll barely get done cleaning the streets when a larger horde arrives from the west on July 25.

I made a bad assumption. Zac Brown Band is playing there that night and perhaps I gave RAGBRAI too much credit thinking they could land someone that big.

Zac Brown Band is playing at the Jones County Fair July 25th.

From where Monticello is on the map as it relates to the part of the week, I would speculate that if they were to be an overnight, it would be Friday, July 24th.

And usually, the end town doesn’t have evening entertainment. Good try on the guess though. :)

Monticello has always been the Friday night town in its previous 3 RAGBRAIs as an overnight town.

I will take the 0.001%. They will end closer to the river and there is no overnight on Saturday the 25th. Might be the 24th but it is also the first overnight for the Iowa ride the week before. Though they could be double dipping. Although the 24th would work out nice.

Yeah, Monticello will not be on the ride, IMO. I’m not sure the town couple handle rides like this in back to back weeks. I can see us going to Maquoketa though.
